Planning for Englewood Rotary's Polio Plus

During his childhood in Indiana Philip Wilson contracted polio at age 8. After college he served as a Peace Corps Volunteer teaching high school in Kenya. Returning to New York City he trained as a Social Worker. After 11 years in the City, Philip, his wife and family relocated to Bergen County where he became the CEO of West Bergen Mental Healthcare. In 1984 Philip joined Ridgewood Rotary, later serving as Club president. Upon retiring he helped to found the Rotary Club of The Palisades where he has also served as president.

Jim Cole is an orthopedic surgeon who was tapped by then governor Raj Bhatia to be District 7 490's Polio person. He has continued in that position to the present. He has visited Africa on a number of occasions to provide orthopedic care and in that capacity has performed corrective surgery on many people suffering from the residuals of polio myelitis.
