Senator Weinberg is the majority leader of the Senate. She joined the Senate Nov. 10, 2005, two months after her selection by district Democratic County Committee members to fill a vacancy and two days after being elected to complete the Senate term that began Jan. 10, 2006. She won re-election in 2007, 2011, 2013 and 2017. She had been a member of the Assembly since March 16, 1992. In 2009, she was the Democratic candidate for the newly-created office of lieutenant governor.
